Dams (near vicinity) Misverstand Dam, near Malmesbury (78 km from Velddrif). Banks Absa, Fnb, Standard, ATM’s 2 NATURE Velddrif is known for it’s unique character, wetlands with abundant birdlife, and fishing industry. The Berg River Estuary is one of two locations in South Africa that qualifies as a wader hotspot. This estuary is home to nearly 30 000 birds. The Cederberg Wilderness Area as well as the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Area offers excellent hiking routes.
