VENTERSDORP

The town of Ventersdorp was established as a Dutch Reformed Church parish on the farm Roodepoort in 1866. The village was named after the owner of the farm, Johannes Venter. The town is located near the source of the Schoonspruit ('beautiful stream'), which runs through the town to join the Vaal River near Orkney.

Approximately 10 km from Ventersdorp on the Potchefstroom road. Overnight facilities – caravan and camping park with clean ablution blocks and electricity. Swimming pool, fishing, recreation hall with bar for tourist groups. Conferences and other functions. Water sport. The dam covers 300 ha. Boats allowed

Witkrans Game Ranch

Witkrans Game Ranch is situated in the heartland of the North West Province, one and a half hours drive from Johannesburg. Game species include herds of gemsbok, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, zebra, blesbok and springbok. White rhino and other game are also present. Accommodation consists of a self catering bush camp with four double log cabins, each with it's own veranda, a bathroom, protected lapa and barbecue area, with solar lighting. Activities include hiking and game viewing.
